Knights of Columbus Scholarship

NOTE TO APPLICANT

If you are receiving a scholarship from a school and you also receive a Knights of Columbus scholarship for the same school, you should be aware there might not be a net gain in finance from the K of C scholarship. The policy of some educational institutions is to deduct additional outside scholarship moneys from the original internal scholarship. Please contact the admissions department of your school and find out what their policy is on additional outside scholarships.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

You must attend College this fall as a freshman or applying for the first-time as a currently enrolled college student. The following criteria must be met:

• You must be a practicing member of your Catholic church.
• You have not previously received the KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS COUNCIL #2308 COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP in any prior year.
• This scholarship will only be awarded once to any applicant.

1. Complete the entire application, provide a current official transcript, write and submit the essay. Responses must be typed. If you have any questions contact the Scholarship Chairman, Gil Krische, at 760-484-2709.

3. Applications must be received / postmarked no later than April 1, 2023. Applications postmarked or submitted via email after this date will not be considered. Awardees will be notified by May 8, 2023.

1. Provide your name, address, and telephone number. Identify which Catholic Parish you belong to.
2. If you are a member, child, or grandchild of a living or deceased member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2308, give the member's name.
3. State which College you are to attend.
4. Provide a school transcript with your current year Grade Point Average.
5. Provide academic references from teachers, counselors, or school staff.
6. What is the total estimated cost for college for the upcoming academic year?
7. What portion of this cost do you anticipate will be covered by parents, savings, loans, scholarships, grants, employment, or work/study program, etc.?
8. Explain to us about your education desires and describe your scholastic achievements for example awards received.
9. Tell us about your extracurricular activities such as athletics, clubs, community, church, service groups, your own endeavors, etc.
10. Tell us why you are applying for this scholarship. Do you have any personal or family circumstances or needs, which you believe the Scholarship Committee, should consider?
11. Provide at least two references, their addresses, and telephone numbers.
